New year, new blues14/01/08Having organised a bevy of gigs in the Bleu Note and other venues, Smokestack are making a strong start in 2008! Keep an ear out for the newest tunes, Mojo In A Bag and Cold Dinner Blues. Christmas update20/12/07Smokestack will be crafting a couple of new tunes with Dave Byrne for our next performance, which should be just before the new year. Thanks to all who've come down to the last few gigs, and have a good Christmas! Fresh guitar sounds07/11/07Smokestack fans will be hearing the psychedelic, Hendrix-sourced guitar of North Dubliner Dave Byrne for a couple of gigs as we explore new line-up possibilities. Can't get enough of that funky stuff15/10/07We've finished our new demo and the results are up here for your listening enjoyment! In the studio05/09/07Smokestack Lightning have just completed a recording session in redlab recording studios (myspace.com/redlabstudios), and preliminary listens seem to indicate that our unconventional 'live-in-studio' approach paid off. Anyhow, you'll be the judge when we get the best takes mixed and uploaded here for your listening pleasure, in the next couple of weeks. All set for August07/08/07It's been a long break but Smokestack Lightning are poised to get back to work! We're starting to rehearse the new material in earnest, and if all goes to plan this month will see the production of an all-new demo. Plans for the autumn include some college gigs and of course more of that Mezz-y action. Stay tuned. End of June residency27/06/07Well, last night's gig brought a most satisfactory series of gigs to an end - thanks to all the fans who came to see us off. The band will be taking a short break of a fortnight or so, and after that we'll be concentrating on writing new material and recording it. And don't worry, we'll have some new gig dates booked as soon as we're back in action. Back in the pocket13/06/07Robert Higgins will be reclaiming the drummer's throne on Tuesday the 21st after a two-week hiatus for his Leaving Cert. Many thanks to the ever-grooving Stephen Kohlman for helping us out in the meantime! Oh, and keep your ears open for some new Smokestack Lightning originals coming your way soon. New contact address08/04/07Yes, there's an all-new email address for enquiries, that's enquiries [ at ] smokestacklightningblues [ dot ] com. Nothing much else apart from some proof-reading fixes, but stay tuned for photos of our last gig, in JJs! Quick update04/04/07Two or three more tunes have been added to the lyrics section, plus an update to the gig blog. We distributed flyers at last night's gig which will hopefully generate some traffic! Some content03/04/07Well the website is up and running, certain features still need to be included (browsing photos, downloading tunes), and some may have to be upgraded (the guestbook), but the structure is there, as well as a good pile of written content.
